This is a new airport built in Long San. The old airport is in Lg Akah which is a 5 min across the river Baram.

At last: Liomatoh.

Liomatoh is half an hour drive from Lg Selugo. Those who intend to do a traverse to Lg Lellang actually can flt into Long Banga and then take a 4 wheel drive to Lg Selungo which is nearer.
Anyway just that arriving in Liomatoh is a relieve as this is the name of the gmail that started the long journey into the interior of Sarawak. It been a long walk indeed.
Lakau lakau, dawai dawai.

Tua Kampong's house

This is where we stayed. Surprisingly they have a rotation basis where each house will take turn host guests and there by make some money out of the stay. So the TK 's wife ask 2 of us to move to another house but we insist of staying together. Anyway we also paid the other lady whose house we were supposed to stay.
Here Andy is seen doing a long chat with some of the visitors and the TK.

Andrew Paul and Maureen Saban.

Andy is doing a lot of recording on the natives elders, medicinal plants and birds.
His website is moggieworld.
Maureen is Lun Bawang born and bred in Ba Kelalan.
THis is the first time they are following us and with Maureen speaking Penan, it really break the ice with the Penan. They feel not that shy or quiet anymore.
Anyway Andy is a superb communicator and speak Malay fluently so the PR side is also covered. Even though he is a avid photgrapher, he first meet the folks and talk to them instead of pulling his camera to shoot shoot shoot.
That what happened to some of our trips where photographers don't have the friendly side of PR. They just point the camera on the Penan and start shooting like they are model. After that they just walk off and don't even sit down for a conversation.

Lg Sepigen.

Using the Sg Selungo, the next longhouse is Lg Sait which has a SK Lg Sait. There is more people in Lg Sait about 25 families.
From Lg Sait, you can trek a day to reach Lg Lellang at the Penan walking rate.

Up Sg Selugo.

There is a number of rapids that makes the journey interesting.

From Lg Selungo to Lg Sepigen is about 45min by boat. Each boat can only accomodate 2 pax as the water level is low. Beside the outboard is the smallest of horsepower.
Lg Sait is 2 hours from here.

We took a 4 wheel drive to Lg San, a 5 hours drive. The cost to Lg Akah is RM500 one way. The driver is Philip hp 019-484-6976.
Alternate driver is Luis Awan hp 014-582-2375.
But if you intend to use the 4 wheel to visit other Penan villages, it is advisable to ask for the price first. Long Selungo is 1:30 min drive away. It is the take off point for going upriver to Long Sepigen, Long Sait.
